BMT Asia Pacific: New MD for Singapore Ops

Singapore based, BMT Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, a subsidiary of the BMT Group, announced today the appointment of Per Røed as its Managing Director.  With a background in ship design, technical ship management and international shipping, Per’s focus for the business will be to continue its steady growth in the Asia Pacific region, particularly in the areas of maritime terminal developments; specialist vessel design; shipping services; and risk consultanty. Formerly Head of Vessel Newbuilding at AP Moller–Maersk in Singapore, Per brings with him a wealth of experience in leading the design, construction and delivery of  vessels to the company’s fleet.  As well as overseeing a team of project managers, naval architects and mechanical and electrical engineers in both Denmark and Singapore, Per managed the company’s multi-national site offices at newbuild yards.   With a Masters of Science in Marine Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration, Per has worked for AP Moller-Maersk for the past six years.  Before this, he was employed at BMT Fleet Technology in Canada, a sister company within the BMT Group.   As well as the appointment of Per, BMT Asia Pacific will also benefit from the promotion of Anil Thapar to Deputy Managing Director.  Anil has been with the company for nine years and has been instrumental in developing and exploiting a wide range of BMT's maritime services in the region. Commenting on the new appointments, Mel Davies, Regional Director for Asia Pacific said: “I am delighted that Per has chosen to re-join BMT following his time at AP Moller-Maersk, and pleased that Anil has been recognised with this promotion.   Having both as part of a strong senior management team at the helm of the Singapore operations will help to strengthen the company’s position as a leading independent consultancy specialising in port and terminal engineering and maritime consultancy”
