Samsung Heavy Industries won an order amounting to USD 440 Million for Three Arctic Shuttle Tankers from a European shipper.

According to sources the order is from Russia’s state shipping firm Sovcomflot.

The shuttle tankers will have a capacity of 42,000 dwt each and the newbuildings are scheduled to be completed by April 2017.

With the latest deal, SHI has a combined total of $5.9bn in orders, and more orders are expected later this year, according to the shipbuilder.

In July this year, SHI clinched a similar order worth $440m to build a trio of shuttle tankers for Sovcomflot.
