Maritime industry professionals have increasingly taken notice of 3D laser scanning in recent years as acceptance for the technology and its applications mounts throughout the sector.

FARO, a developer of computer-aided measurement and imaging devices and software for 3D measurement, imaging and realization, will take an up-close look at 3D laser scanning with a webinar entitled Improving the Boat Building Industry with 3D Laser Scanning, on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, 1 p.m. EST.

The free webinar will discuss challenges associated with 3D laser scanning while also drawing attention to the developments which have helped to mainstream this technology in the maritime industry. Also covered will be practical examples for real-world applications, including means for modernization, newbuilding, saving costs, improving safety and training the new workforce.

Daryl Johnson, a registered professional engineer in Washington State and founder and engineering manager at Summit Engineering and Design, LLC., will head the webinar.

“3D Laser Scanning is quickly growing past an emerging technology into a mainstream solution for the current needs of the marine industry,” Johnson said.
