Netherlands- based Van Straalen De Vries (VSDV) Transport Group began work of new building on the Port of Amsterdam’s Beiraweg. The ceremony was attended by VSDV Group family members, shareholders and employees.

The company’s directors turned the first sod together for the new cross-dock facility, which is being built by the Aan de Stegge construction and engineering company on behalf of Peeters Vervoerscentrale and Van Staaveren Amsterdam. The building will be completed by the 2018 Builders Holidays in July/August.
In constructing the new building, which will cover a total of 5,500 square metres and will be partially equipped with solar panels, 40 docks and a vehicle cleaning facility, the company is fully prepared for any future industry trends and developments.
Van Straalen transport and De Vries Transport, two former small family businesses based in the North Holland towns of Zwaagdijk and Spierdijk, respectively, merged back in 2004.
A number of subsequent acquisitions have enabled VSDV Transport to use its overall transport capacity more efficiently and effectively.
Both family businesses – which boast a combined 75 years of history and experience – are currently managed by the third generation of their respective families.
