Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. received a letter of appreciation from the Paraguayan Embassy, thanking the company for providing ocean transport of used wheelchairs from Japan to Paraguay, where they were delivered to needy children. This is the second time MOL has teamed up with the Volunteers Group to Send Wheelchairs to Overseas Children, a certified NPO, following a project in 2010.

A total of 80 used wheelchairs for children were loaded on its operated containership at Port of Yokohama and left on October 23, 2014. The vessel arrived at the port of Asuncion on January 19 and the wheelchairs were delivered to children.

Paraguayan Ambassador to Japan Naoyuki Toyotoshi presented MOL with a letter of appreciation from Minister of Secretaria National por los Derechos Humanos de las Personas con Discapacidad (SENADIS) Rocio FLorentin Gomez. Said Ambassador  Toyotoshi, “Even when organizations seek to support Paraguay from overseas, their support cannot be realized without transportation. We greatly appreciate MOL’s efforts to assist this project with free transport.”

MOL takes a proactive stance in social contribution activities that are unique to an ocean transport company with a global network.
