Transas Academy launched during the Simulation User Conference 2016
Transas has launched its newly established Transas Academy, part of the company's THESIS, the Transas Harmonized Eco System of Integrated Solutions, during the Simulation User Conference (SimUC) which took place in Singapore on January 26-28.
According to Transas, the main purpose of the Transas Academy is to connect maritime stakeholders and provide them with integrated solutions and high quality content, helping them to bridge the gap between STCW and the required competency level. It facilitates all aspects of simulation and training by bringing technology, expertise and content together.
The keynote address by Transas CEO, Frank Coles, prompted the SimUC participants to rethink the role of training and master onboard in today's shipping environment: “If we are to have a successful transition to the new reality, we should consider how to train the new team, the fleet resource team, and empower the master but also provide training on working together.”
Transas used its fourth Simulation User Conference to invite key industry representatives to participate in an open debate and conversations about regulatory changes, technological advances in the maritime industry, growing training demands and the needs for non-regulatory and type-specific training for crews.
The conference attracted almost 400 maritime simulation and training experts, regulators, suppliers and maritime administrations' representatives from at least 50 countries, engaging in a global movement to advance maritime simulation and training around the world. More than 60 papers were presented during the Transas Simulation User Conference, each complementing the theme of 'Simulation and Training without boundaries'.
