Tidal Energy Leaders to Collaborate

Press Release
Tuesday, September 11, 2012

CEOs of the world’s leading tidal device developers to meet & collaborate at upcoming summit.

CEOs from Atlantis Resources Corporation, Andritz Hydro Hammerfest, Marine Current Turbines, Tidal Generation (Rolls Royce) and Voith Hydro Ocean Current Technologies have again committed in 2012 to help push forward the tidal energy industry by continued collaboration and information sharing.

They will be joined for the first time by Christopher Sauer, the President and CEO of the USA’s Ocean Renewable Power Company. The ORPC has made headlines this year by securing a PPA agreement with the Maine Public Utilities Commission to sell grid-connected power from their TidGen project in Eastport, giving a boost to device developers and manufacturers.

Furthermore, Kawasaki Heavy Industries of South Korea joins the line-up after it agreed to deliver a case-study into its closely-guarded 1MW device that is scheduled to be installed at the EMEC test site at Orkney later this year.

With over 450 attendees expected this year, the International Tidal Energy Summit (28-29 November, London) is anticipated to be the biggest and most important tidal energy meeting to date. With commitment and support from major industrial stakeholders including Vattenfall, RWE, ABB Technology Ventures, Siemens and Alstom, this event is set to demonstrate that 2012 has been the most successful year for tidal energy so far.
