Robert Gordon University’s (RGU) ladies football team has received a welcome boost this season with support from a leading energy operator.

Norwegian-based company Teekay Petrojarl has agreed a $7,800 (approximate) sponsorship package for the team which has funded a new kit, training equipment and extra gym sessions. The sponsorship from the company’s Aberdeen office has also supported efforts to recruit a new coach for the team which competes against university sides around the country. Teekay Petrojarl is the largest operator of Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units in the North Sea and fourth largest worldwide. The company employs 1,200 people, both onshore and offshore, and operates on the Norwegian, UK and Brazilian Continental shelves, with a total production capacity of 580,000 barrels of oil per day. Cheryl Hogg, age 23, an International Hospitality Management student at Aberdeen Business School, is also the RGU ladies football club captain and president.
