This week, Navy leadership, Sailors, media and industry are gathered at the annual Surface Navy Association Symposium (SNA) in Crystal City, Virginia.

As part of our effort to bring you the important information from across the Fleet, @USNavy will be retweeting several attendees, including LCDR Golding (@micaelagolding). LCDR Golding is part of the Junior Officer Panel this week at SNA and is the lead action officer for the Ballistic Missile Defense Policy.

LCDR Micaela Golding was born in Kingston, Jamaica and was raised Portsmouth, R.I.  She received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy where she graduated and received her commission as a Surface Warfare Officer in 2000.

Her first assignment was aboard USS ESSEX (LHD 2) where she served as Electronic Warfare Officer and Operations Training Officer. LCDR Golding’s second Division Officer tour was in USS BENFOLD (DDG 65) as Combat Information Center Officer.  Her next assignment was Flag Aide to Commander, Expeditionary Strike Group ONE and, when the command redeployed to conduct a humanitarian assistance mission, she served as Flag Aide to Commander, Disaster Assistance Command-Pakistan.

In September 2008, LCDR Golding reported to USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) where she served as Operations Officer. Following this tour, she served as Operations Officer in USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG 62).  Upon completion of her department head tours, she reported to Tactical Training Group Pacific in San Diego and assumed the duties Ballistic Missile Defense Syndicate Head.  Her current assignment is OPNAV N3/N5 BMD Policy Lead.

LCDR Golding earned her Master’s of Arts degree from the U.S. Naval War College in June 2007.  Her awards include the Joint Service Commendation Medal; Navy Commendation Medal; Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit and service awards.

When she’s not busy with all things Navy, she’s an active supporter of her hometown sports teams and an avid snowboarder and surfer. To follow her directly, and learn more about her experiences at SNA, you can follow her on twitter at @MicaelaGolding.
