IRClass has announced the release of new technical software, IR-CSR, for verification and compliance of oil tankers and bulk carriers against recently mandated Common Structural Rules (CSR) by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).

The CSR applies to all relevant vessels contracted for construction on or after 1 July 2015.

The IR-CSR software has been designed to analyse ships for prescriptive, direct strength and fatigue requirements complying with IACS rules. The Finite Element Analysis in IR-CSR is based on PATRAN/NASTRAN, one of the most commonly used platforms for analysis of ship structures. It will ensure the software is adaptable to all input files built using this platform, including those made on other software. The user-friendly software is also equipped with intuitive graphic interface and tools like Auto-identification of FE Buckling Panels and Automated Very Fine Mesh Generation in FE Fatigue Analysis which significantly reduces data entry time.

IR-CSR software is available to owners and shipyards on request to assist in improving ship designs and ensuring compliance with Class requirements.
