The Simrad Professional Series has launched a new lineup of professional-grade Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS)– theSimrad MARIS ECDIS900 MK5 and MK15.Available in 19-, 24-, and 26-inch widescreen monitors, the ECDIS900 Series is IEC61174:2008 Ed3type-approved for use on all SOLAS vessels operating under the ECDIS Carriage Mandate.

The ECDIS900 MK5 and MK15 are based on a standard Windows interface using common controls including toolbars, tabbed panels, hotkeys, and right-click context or ‘pop-up’ menus. Integrating the latest features captains require, the ECDIS900 Series includes advanced route-planning tools, Search and Rescue module, Docking module, Predictor precision navigation module, and a digital Logbook – all displayed on the latest official navigational charts. Depending on the needs of the captain, optional radar overlay, MARIS Bridge Assistant Paper Chart Manager, and Voyage Decision Support route-planning tools are available. All ECDIS900 models include a standard keyboard and trackball for fast and accurate data entry.

“With the launch of the new MARIS ECDIS900 Mk5 and MK15, we have further improved on a long line of reliable and proven ECDIS900 products that have been fitted to several thousands of ships across the world,” said Jose Herrero, managing director, Navico Commercial Marine Division. “The MK5 and MK15 give shipping owners the flexibility to meet bridge design constraints and comply with additional regulations set by Flag States, Port State Control, and the OCIMF Ship Inspection Report Programme (SIRE).”

The ECDIS900 MK5 includes a standard Windows PC and separate 24- or 26-inch flat-panel monitor suitable for pedestal, table- or flush-mount installation. The compact MK5 PC supports horizontal or vertical mounting with an included bracket, or mounting within the optional ECDIS900 pedestal for a freestanding installation.

The ECDIS900 MK15 includes a 19- or 24-inch ‘all-in-one’ flat-panel display with integrated Windows PC, suitable for pedestal, table- or flush-mount installation. The single-unit design –including four integrated NMEA 0183 ports, dual Ethernet ports and AC/DC power supply – allows for simple installation in a variety of locations with limited space where a separate display and ECDIS processor may prove impractical.
