OSK-ShipTech A/S has acquired consulting naval architects A/S Jørgen Petersen who has more than 40 years of experience in ship design and consulting in the marine industry. The acquisition took effect April 1, 2015.
Citing strong business development within passenger vessels in recent years, OSK-ShipTech A/S welcomes the expertise and experience of A/S Jørgen Petersen, specialists in smaller passenger ferries. Going forward, the pooling of know-how of the two companies will reinforce OSKShipTech’s position covering the entire span of passenger vessels, the company said.
OSK-ShipTech A/S also noted it is at the forefront in using green propulsion technology on smaller vessels. Together with A/S Jørgen Petersen, the company will continue to offer alternative propulsion solutions and implement these on larger vessels.
“The acquisition of A/S Jørgen Petersen and their portfolio of smaller passenger vessels is an important complementation of our client base currently consisting of nearly 100 passenger vessels all in excess of 100m length,” said Anders Ørgård Hansen of OSK-ShipTech A/S. And adds: “we will continue to expand our client base and push the evolution of hybrid technologies from smaller ferries into larger ferries as battery technology matures. Hybrid technology is a very strong competence within OSK today and going forward.”
All employees of A/S Jørgen Petersen will continue to serve existing clients.
