Executives from 20 shipping companies and 40 expert panelists will share case studies on improving efficiency in ship operations with an expected 100 registered delegates at the 2013 SHIPPINGInsight Fleet Optimization Conference, at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel in Stamford, Conn., Oct. 22-24.

“We’ve assembled an impressive lineup of moderators, panelists and speakers for this year’s conference,” said co-producer Frank Soccoli. “Top executives from major shipowners will share their insights on the challenges facing today’s shipping industry. They include Peter Keller, president of Sea Star Line, Mark Barker, president of Interlake Steamship and Angus Campbell, managing director of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement.”

The conference agenda covers a full range of issues related to improving profitability in ship operations, including regulatory issues, ship design and construction, fuel and propulsion management, system performance monitoring, maintenance, onboard management, routing, hull treatment and power management. There will be a special emphasis on the use of LNG as an alternative fuel, including a dedicated two-hour LNG Workshop.

In addition to the panel sessions and presentations, more than 20 companies will present their products and services in the exhibit hall, and the networking lunches and evening receptions will provide ample opportunities for informal exchange of ideas.

“The industry faces a tough economic climate characterized by overtonnage, low freight rates, tight credit and soaring fuel costs,” said Jim Rhodes, conference co-producer.  “We see the SHIPPINGInsight Conference as a technology incubator for nurturing and sharing ideas and best practices for improving efficiency and achieving profitability.”

Space is filling fast, and the conference producers urge attendees to register online as soon as possible. The Sheraton Stamford Hotel is offering a special discount on room rates for conference attendees, but it’s important to book now, since a sell-out crowd is expected.
