Shahid Ali Appointed as CEO Maldives Ports

Shahid Ali has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Office of Maldives Ports Limited.

Maldives Ports Limited annouced the appointment through a twitter message which read: "On behalf of all the staff and management of Maldives Ports Ltd, we would like to send a hearty congratulations to our newly appointed CEO, Shahid Ali"

Shahid previously held the position of Managing Director at State Trading Organization.

The Port was established in September 1986 under a Presidential decree as , to manage and operate all ports within the country.

The company was firstly introduced as an authority.It is wholly (100%) owned by the government of the Republic of Maldives and functions under the Ministry of Transport and Communication.

Later the regulatory functions of the port was transfered to the Ministry of Transport and Communication and the commercial functions was corporatized as Maldives Ports Limited on 31st July 2008.

The port company is administered and managed by a board whose members are appointed by the President of the Republic of Maldives . On behalf of the board, the Managing Director is in charge of controlling the day to day operations of the port.
