Seaspan Launches Supplier Self-Registration Portal

Tuesday, February 14, 2012

Seaspan Marine Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of its Supplier Self-Registration Portal. The multi-year shipbuilding program that Seaspan is undertaking requires a large number of varied suppliers. This new portal will establish a single database of all potential suppliers to match procurement operations with profiles. It will also establish more rigor in supplier qualification and development. “We are in the early stages of developing a procurement strategy to support the National  Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS) program, and this is the first step in building key partnerships with our established and future suppliers,” said Brian Carter, Seaspan Shipyards president.

For the duration of the contract, Seaspan must deliver and report on its business activities to the Government of Canada, activities directly–and indirectly–related to the contract and that provide benefits to local communities, suppliers and the Canadian economy. The supplier registration portal is open to all suppliers worldwide who seek to do business with Seaspan. Registration on the site does not commit Seaspan to any specific course of action or guarantee any organization will be considered for future procurement opportunities. While official supplier selection related to the NSPS program has not taken place, all interested suppliers are invited to register at http://www.seaspan.com/supplier_registration.php. Supplier selection will occur once the individual ship contracts are negotiated with the Government of Canada and ship designs/specifications are finalized.
