Search on for Missing Person on Lake Pontchartrain

 The Coast Guard is searching for a person that reportedly fell from the Causeway Bridge on Lake Pontchartrain, Friday.
 
Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified of a Hispanic male wearing a dark shirt and jeans, who reportedly fell from the southbound Causeway Bridge near the South Shore landing. The person reportedly fell through a gap in the fence near the beginning of the 35 MPH speed zone, at 11:55 a.m.
 
Sector New Orleans directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station New Orleans 24-ft. Special Purpose Craft- Shallow Water crew and an Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter crew to search the area. A third Coast Guard crew will continue search efforts through the evening.


An MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter crew will conduct a first light search Saturday morning and Coast Guard Auxiliary will be on scene Saturday afternoon.
 
Jefferson Parrish Sherriff's Office and the Causeway Police Dept responded as well.
