The objective is to support ports in transitioning to zero-emission and energy-efficient operations. By combining Seacap's financial capacity with Shorly's software and operational services, the partners offer an end-to-end solution spanning early-stage development and financing to operation, optimization, and further development of green port infrastructure.
The port sector faces strict and growing requirements regarding electrification, energy efficiency, and carbon emissions reporting. At the same time, technical complexity increases as shore power systems, battery banks, and local energy infrastructure are integrated into fully functional systems. For many ports, this presents a major barrier where the need for capital expenditure meets the risk of selecting the wrong technological solutions.
In practice, the collaboration between Seacap and Shorly means ports now gain access to an independent partner capable of managing the complete lifecycle of their energy infrastructure. This encompasses everything from initial advisory services in design, engineering, and execution, to financing and operating the shore power facilities themselves. Once the infrastructure is established, daily operations and maintenance are managed in close coordination with digital tools. At the core of the delivery are advanced energy management systems (EMS) for continuous monitoring and optimization, featuring integration with third-party solutions and technology-neutral platforms.
Shorly was established earlier this year to make the leading technology, experience, and expertise built up through Havnekraft's shore power and energy infrastructure initiatives accessible to a broader market. Behind both Havnekraft and Shorly are Haugaland Kraft AS and Karmsund Port Authority (Karmsund Havn IKS), which have been instrumental in developing and operating port energy solutions for several years.
In the newly established Shorly, Havnekraft AS has consolidated the software solutions and operational services developed over several years. These solutions are grounded in practical experience from developing, owning, and operating shore power installations and port energy infrastructure. The goal is to refine and position this expertise and technology for further growth.
