Safebridge’s Online E-Learning and Simulation Training Receives State Recognition.

Safebridge GmbH, the Hamburg-based E-learning specialist in maritime ECDIS training, having established its innovative online simulation technology for type-specific ECDIS training, today announced that it has been awarded state funding by the Hamburg Authority for Management, Commerce and Innovation (BWVI). The award recognizes the valuable contribution that the technology to combine E-learning and simulation makes to the safety of ship navigation through learning by doing. It is made to enable further development of this revolutionary approach on system familiarization “to increase the operating competence in the use of (electronic) bridge equipment.”

Safebridge’s ECDIS type-specific solution integrates manufacturer software to allow officers to be trained online on exactly the system they find on board via an Internet connection anywhere in the world. This can be accomplished before commencing a voyage in compliance with STCW requirements. Future developments will now expand this to cover other bridge equipment.
