Jaanus Rahumägi, President & CEO, ESC Global Security has been elected as one of the new members of the Security Association for the Maritime Industry (SAMI) Industry Steering Group.

SAMI represents more than 80 percent of the world’s private maritime security companies from its base in London and his appointment is one of 10 new members elected to this prestigious maritime organization. Jaanus Rahumägi will represent Europe & Russia as one of three members from that region.

Speaking from ESC Global Security’s head office in Tallinn, Estonia, Jaanus Rahumägi understands the important work the Industry Steering Group plays for both SAMI and the whole industry: “Along with our colleagues in the private maritime security industry, we have been at the forefront of developing the standards that define our work in this sector. The nature of global maritime security is changing as are the threats and issues. ESC will play a continuing part in the deployment of professional security guards on vessels in known high risk areas. But like our colleagues we also appreciate the new risks that call for us, the maritime industry as a whole and SAMI to be ready to deal with these developing crises and new needs. I am pleased to have the opportunity with SAMI to work with other specialized maritime security consultants to make the seas safer.”
