APM Terminals Pipavav [Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd] has commenced operation of ‘drive-through container scanner’ effective December 1, 2019.

The scanning system adheres to the guidelines issued by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board and specifications issued by Directorate of Logistics (DOL).

The Eagle P60 scanning machine was implemented to reduce the dwell time, improve productivity, facilitate faster turnaround of the consignment thereby reducing the transaction cost and enhancing the overall Port’s performance.

The state-of-the-art machinery with UPS power back up, completes the scanning process within a short duration of 25-30 seconds. The entire container load on trailer can pass through the machine; which can scan ~70 vehicles in an hour. The scanning system is provided with multiple safety interlocks for drive through scanning. This is said to reduce the time taken for the container scanning process and will facilitate hassle-free movement of cargo.
