Russian Maritime Register of Shipping took part in the sixth international specialized exhibition Transport Logistic China 2014, in Shanghai from June 17-19.

This exhibition brings together experts in the field of transport, logistics, telematics, e-commerce, warehousing, material handling and freight and passenger traffic. This year it was attended by more than 500 exhibitors from over 40 countries, making it one of the most important industry events in the East Asia region.

RS showcased its full range of container inspection services and the operations of the RS Branch Office in China. The stand was visited by the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Maxim Sokolov, Director of the Department of the State Policy for Maritime and River Transport, Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Konstantin Palnikov, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to China Andrey Denisov, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Shanghai Andrey Smorodin and other officials.

During his visit Maxim Sokolov discussed various aspects of the container business with RS representatives. Head of the RS Container Department Alexander Fetisov spoke about the RS achievements in increasing the efficiency and safety of container transport and also about the RS active cooperation with all container industry organizations. In 2013, RS signed agreements with China's CIMC, which manufactures about 60 % of all containers produced in the world, and with ZZTC, which has significant experience in designing pressure vessels, tank containers for chemicals, and offshore containers. Mr. Fetisov also informed the Russian Minister of Transport about the Register’s participation in an innovative project to create a tank container with a boiler made from composite materials, which is being implemented in cooperation with Uralkriomash as part of a state Program for the Development of the Composite Materials Production Industry. It is planned to design and build a container from polymer composites that is resistant to aggressive substances, chemicals and petrochemicals that are subject to container transport, and that will meet all international multimodal transport standards.

Head of the RS Branch Office in China Peter Vanyukov spoke about the opening of the new RS office in Shanghai, which began working with Chinese shipowners and manufacturers of materials and equipment in May 2014. The decision to open a new branch office was taken due to the active development of Russian-Chinese relations and the increased technological capabilities of Chinese companies.
