Krishnapatnam Port Unveils New Control Center

Krishnapatnam Port, the country’s largest all-weather; deep water port on the east-coast of India has always been proactive in adopting new and innovative technologies to enhance improved efficiencies in port security and operations. In sync with the new age initiatives, the port has established a centralized State of the art Command and control Center.

Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir – Minister of state for home affairs visited the port to inaugurate the center which was followed by his participation in the Sapling Plantation, an initiative taken up by the port to make Krishnapatnam Port a Clean and Green Port, aligning to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan initiative.

With several close watch centers placed around the port, it is imperative to have a well-founded, centralized command center to supervise the working around the port. The Command Center uses the latest technologies to monitor port security and operations. Equipped with several screens, the centre displays information on a real term basis which includes - port channel and berth activity, port railway sidings activity, warehouse stock information, RFID (related truck movement container vessel throughput) and advance vehicle tracking system among others.

The honorable minister was given a detailed orientation about Krishnapatnam Port and its performance and achievements since its inception. Besides an elaborate port visit, the minister also examined the marine infrastructure from the sea side and was amazed by the infrastructure, the scale of operations, the facilities and services offered by the port.

Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir (Popularly Known Hansraj Bhaiya) is a member of the 16th Lok Sabha of India. He is currently Minister of State for Home Affairs. He was a Member of the 11th Lok Sabha, 14th Lok Sabha, and the 15th Lok Sabha. He represents the Chandrapur constituency of Maharashtra and is a renowned member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the 14th Lok Sabha, the then Speaker, Somnath Chatterjee, had hailed Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir as a Role-Model for all the MP's.
