Kongsberg Maritime to embed OSIsoft PI system in new Kongsberg information management system for marine operations.

OSIsoft, provider of the PI System, provider of real-time data and events management systems and Kongsberg Maritime, a maritime and offshore technology provider, announce a strategic partnership. As a result, users of the sophisticated new Kongsberg Information Management System (K-IMS) will benefit from the PI System’s ability to process data and events.

The K-IMS solution is a new development program from Kongsberg Maritime, which uniquely, facilitates consolidation of all control system data into a single, role-based secure web-portal.

In practice, the IMS enables enhanced information sharing and better insight into operations for offshore and shore-based teams, which results in improved decision support and safety of operations. It is a cost efficient system that empowers operators to introduce improved operational procedures and ultimately improve safety and profitability through better use of data from Kongsberg and third party systems.

“As a maritime and offshore vendor we see increasing demand from our customers for a holistic view of process data and events, not only at the vessel level, but also at the fleet and enterprise level,” said, Bjørn Kristian Neumann, Manager Full Picture, Kongsberg Maritime. “The K-IMS is a communication platform for the offshore and maritime industry that provides real-time communication between offshore and onshore assets to help organizations enhance safety, improve decision making and trouble shooting, and reduce the need for service personnel onboard vessels.”
