Kalmar has received orders for seven top loaders from Crowley Liner Services for operation in Jacksonville and Port Everglades, Florida, and eight reachstackers from Crowley Puerto Rico Services for operation in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The orders were booked in Cargotec's 2016 second quarter order intake, with delivery taking place during the first quarter of 2017.

Crowley is investing heavily in new vessels, terminal upgrades, and terminal operating systems to facilitate growth. Part of that investment includes upgrading its container handling fleet as the company switches to grounded operations. Three of the Kalmar top loaders and all of the reachstackers will have Wide Twistlock Position (WTP) spreaders, and all units will be delivered with Kalmar SmartFleet remote monitoring solution to improve operational performance.

Kalmar DCF410 CSG top loaders can handle loads of up to 41 tonnes while DRG450-60S5 Reachstackers manage loads up to 45 tonnes. Both units combine superior lifting performance with easy maintenance and excellent reliability.

Vincent Hruska, Sales Manager, Kalmar Counterbalanced Equipment, said, "The order is a follow up to the five Kalmar machines delivered to Crowley in 2015 and demonstrates their confidence in Kalmar's product reliability, Tier 3 engines, and support network. In 2015 Kalmar sold a record number of top loaders in North America and this deal continues that trend."
