BIMCO today confirmed the first communications agency to join as one of its associate members.

Jeanius Consulting offers a service encompassing maritime PR, marketing and social media management and works with a wide range of clients and associations throughout the industry.  Dealing with the full range of global maritime publications, they totally embrace digital and social media alongside more traditional mediums, being rather a 'champion of social media' for the industry especially Twitter.

BIMCO was established in 1905 as a shipping association providing a wide range of services to its global membership of stakeholders.

The association’s main objective is to facilitate the commercial operations of its membership by means of developing standard contracts and clauses, and providing quality information, advice, and education. BIMCO promotes fair business practices, free trade and open access to markets and is a strong advocate for the harmonization and standardization of all shipping related activity.

“There is a desire across the international shipping industry to see better communication and awareness of shipping’s importance to the global economy and trade,” said Gemma Wilkie, Communications Director at BIMCO. “It is therefore great to see BIMCO’s associate membership expand into the communications sector as Jeanius Consulting join us.”
