Jan De Nul to Install 36 foundations for Borkum Riffgrund

Jan De Nul Group signed a contract with Dong Energy from Denmark for the transport and installation of 36 monopiles and transition pieces for the offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 2 in German territorial waters. Additionally, the Group was also awarded the supply, transport and installation of scour protection for all foundations.

The offshore wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 2 is located in the North Sea, within the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), at 17 km east of the border with the Netherlands, 34 km north of the island of Borkum and 50 km north-west of the German mainland. The project is one of several located within a cluster of projects in an area especially designated for offshore wind energy production (Vorranggebiet Windenergie).

“Signing this contract with DONG, being one of the key players in the Offshore Wind Industry, is an important step for Jan De Nul Group, herewith now confirming its position within the installation of offshore wind farms,” says Peter De Pooter, Area Manager Renewables at Jan De Nul Group. Installation works will start in first half of 2018. Jan De Nul will deploy its Jack-Up Vessel Vole au vent to install the foundations.

The Borkum Riffgrund wind farm received grid connection for 450 MW.
