In order to accommodate construction of Ultra-Large newbuilding vessels including recently secured 20,000TEU Mega container ships (about 400m in length and about 59m breadth), Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. has decided to construct a large newbuilding dry dock of about 600m length x 80m breadth on the reclaimed land (about 100,000㎡) which is located next to our Marugame Headquarters (Marugame City). The reclaimed land was sold off by the Marugame City Land Development Public Corporations.

The new dry dock construction permit has already been granted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Its construction will start from next month, and is scheduled to be completed in October 2016 by the consortium of Rinkai Construction Co., Ltd., Obayashi Corporation and Toyo Construction Co., Ltd.

Our Saijo Shipyard which was constructed in 2000 is our last new dry dock, and we are intending to invest about Yen 40-billion for the Marugame new dry dock including block factory and 3 units of goriath cranes each having 1,200ton hoisting capacity.

We intend to strengthen our international competiveness by building up production formation so as to flexibly respond to world customers’ various needs including very large size vessels and sincerely wish to satisfy our customers through our newbuilding vessels.
