The International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) is set to celebrate its Silver Jubilee in 2016.

Marine surveyors continue to provide a pivotal and vital role to the world's shipping, maritime, boat and yachting industry sectors. So it is fitting that from humble beginnings in 1991 when a group of marine surveyors met aboard HMS Wellington in London, the Institute has grown strongly and now boasts a membership of about 1,000 in more than 90 countries. The IIMS finally comes of age in 2016 as it celebrates its 25th Anniversary and Silver Jubilee.
The key aims of the Institute are to provide education and training for its members, to provide news and information, ensuring best practice is applied and to represent the profession to worldwide governments and maritime authorities.
As part of its year long celebrations, the IIMS announced the launch of its Silver Jubilee Awards, which will recognize excellence in marine surveying throughout the world in nine categories.
The awards will be presented at a special luncheon on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 as part of the IIMS 25th Anniversary Conference (August 31 -  September 1, 2016) at a central London location. The Awards, which are open to IIMS members, are now open and nominations are being accepted. Nominations close on June 30, 2016.
