New Hires for Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. and The Shearer Group, Inc., Naval Architects and Marine Engineers.

Bristol, RI and Seabrook, TX – September 9th, 2011 – Bristol Harbor Group, Inc., Rhode Island, and its sister company, The Shearer Group, Inc., Texas, have added James J. Stusse and Christian Olavesen to their respective professional staffs. In July of this year, James was added as a Senior Naval Architect at Bristol Harbor Group, Inc. (BHGI). He is a graduate of the Webb Institute, and most recently worked as a naval architect and production manager for New England Boatworks, Portsmouth, Rhode Island. James brings more than a decade of post graduate experience to Bristol Harbor, most of it in aluminum boat design and construction, and is a welcome addition to BHGI’s growing team of naval architects and marine engineers.

James J. Stusse, Senior Naval Architect, BHGI Christian is a 2011 graduate of the naval architecture and marine engineering program at the University of New Orleans, and has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, which is the first step to becoming a Professional Engineer. Christian joined The Shearer Group, Inc.’s (TSGI) office in Seabrook (Houston), Texas in May, and will initially focus on inland tank and deck barge design, as well as Z-Drive towboat design and conversion.

Christian Olavesen, Naval Architect, TSGI In 2010, BHGI, which traditionally focused on the blue water sector of the marine industry, and TSGI, which focused on the design of brown water towboats and barges, were effectively combined when BHGI’s principals bought a controlling interest in TSGI. The two companies now serve both the offshore and inland sectors as one, with offices in both the Northeast and Gulf Coast. Further, these new hires bring the greater BHGI / TSGI team to twelve, including eight naval architects and marine engineers, two marine surveyors and two support staff.
