Halifax Dock Sinking Won’t Impact Navy Work

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

A May 12 story from The Chronicle Herald reported that the Canadian navy’s frigate modernization program at Halifax Shipyard will be unaffected by the sinking of the Scotia Dock II, according to union officials. Layoffs were not expected but there may be some shift changes as a result of the sinking. Irving Shipbuilding Inc. has a maintenance contract worth about $549m for the Canadian navy’s East Coast frigates.
