Germanischer Lloyd Appoints Nikeel Idnani

Germanischer Lloyd has appointed Nikeel Idnani as Business Development Manager for the Area Middle East / Africa, based in Dubai. Idnani has been in Dubai for eight years and brings with him Sales and Marketing experience from the ship repair, ship building and design industries.

While at the Australian Maritime College, Idnani stood first in the Advance Diploma of Marine Engineering, which he completed in July 2000. He was also awarded the Royal Australian Navy Prize for best achievement by a student in the Chief Engineer course. The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) London, honored Idnani with a prize for the graduate achieving best overall performance during the Advance Diploma of Marine Engineering. After completing the requisite sea-time, he obtained the Certificate of Competency – Class 1 (Motor) Chief Engineer, from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

In his present function, Idnani will be mainly responsible for GL’s customers in Africa and Iran. As a Business Development Manager for GL’s Maritime Services, he will promote the traditional classification services of plan approval, inspection and certification of materials and components as well as technical assessment of ships in service with a particular emphasis on ship energy efficiency and environmental issues.
