Dublin Port welcomed four luxury cruise liners within a four-hour window this morning, bringing some 13,000 tourists to the city, making it the city's biggest-ever day for cruise tourism.

The passengers from the four ships - the Celebrity Silhouette, the MV Horizon, the Magellan and the Royal Princess - are likely to spend an average of €100 each, which would amount to a €1.3 million boost for the Dublin economy over the course of the day, Dublin Port Company.

“They come in on the early tide and leave on the late tide. It is an appetizer. They are getting a sample of what the city has to offer so everything from our tourism offering to everything like Brown Thomas or Arnotts.
Dublin Port Company said that 2015 would be a record year, as it expects at least 100 cruise liners to berth in the port, bringing as many as 200,000 customers down the gangways.
Dublin Port is working to bring in further business through a €200 million redevelopment plan, which will allow larger ships to routinely visit the port.
