ABS Executive Vice President of Corporate Energy Development Ken Richardson says managing Big Data is critical to the future of offshore.

(Singapore) ABS, the leading provider of classification services to the global marine and offshore industries, is participating in the Sea Asia conference 21-23 April 2015 in Singapore, where ABS Executive Vice President of Corporate Energy Development Ken Richardson is moderating the offshore marine forum.

While there are many challenges being faced by the offshore sector, Richardson says, one of the most interesting is how the industry will address the challenge of Big Data. “Big data has the potential to be transformational, which means it has to be a priority,” he says.

According to Richardson, leveraging big data could lead to better life cycle management for offshore assets and streamline the classification process. “Finding a way to harness big data is vital to the future,” he says, noting, “Investing in R&D is the most effective way to cultivate innovation.”

In addition to Richardson’s participation in the conference proper, ABS is exhibiting at Sea Asia. ABS technical and subject matter specialists are available to discuss the wide range of topics impacting the shipping and offshore industry – from the latest advances in technology to the expanding regulatory requirements impacting owners and operators.

Throughout this event, ABS will provide daily presentations at stand E01 in Basement 2.
