APT Enters the Marine Sector

Alternative Petroleum Technologies S.A. (APT) and its partner, ITI S.r.l., completed a successful demonstration of various versions of its products on board a commercial container ferry using an emulsified diesel marine fuel. The emissions were measured by ISMAR Chimica Spa, an independent ISO17025:2005 certified laboratory. The engine load was measured using the ship's instruments. The emulsified fuels gave a reduction in PM 10 emissions of 34% (for 13% water) and 43% (for 18% water) and a reduction in NOx emissions of 16% (for 13% water) and 27% (for 18% water). A fuel efficiency advantage of more than 5% was recorded.

Alberto Vigliotti, President of ITI, stated, "The results from these efforts will allow us to optimize the water content further to help the customer balance their desire to reduce emissions and fuel costs."
