Energy Cranes Names Sedge CEO

Energy Cranes International Limited, provider of offshore lifting and handling services which includes Sparrows Offshore, Aberdeen Hydraulics and Baricon Systems, announced the appointment of Doug Sedge as chief executive officer (CEO).  John Jordan, the incumbent CEO, is standing down from the role and will be leaving the group.

Doug Sedge is well known in the oilfield business community, where he was CEO of RBG Group from 2005 to 2008. His most recent assignment was in a European role with Canadian offshore technology group, Tesco Corporation; his move to Energy Cranes marks a return to global leadership in the energy services sector. His 34 year career in the oil industry has also included senior UK and international roles with Dresser Industries, Dolphin Drilling and US oilfield service giant Weatherford Inc - ultimately as their Vice President for Europe Africa and the Former Soviet Union.

Sedge takes up his position as CEO of Energy Cranes on 1st November. His appointment brings new leadership to a group, which has ambitious long-term growth plans.

A keen golfer, Sedge is well known in the industry for his involvement in the Aberdeen Oilman’s Golf Association (AOGA) which, through its annual golf tournament at Gleneagles, has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for young people’s charities.
