ECDIS Seminars at INMEX SMM India

Press Release - The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) will host ECDIS seminars at INMEX SMM Conference and Exhibition in Mumbai, India.

The UKHO’s ‘Living with ECDIS’ Seminars will be held on each of the three days of INMEX SMM, are free to attend and have been updated to include guidance for delegates on the latest IHO ECDIS Standards and how this affects the ECDIS user-experience.
 
Each seminar will cover the day-to-day requirements for shipping companies, following their implementation of ECDIS, and will focus on what needs to be done to ensure the full navigational benefits of ECDIS are achieved.  The topics for discussion will include:

  • ECDIS Maintenance: Hardware and software, latest IHO Standards and ISM requirements
  • Chart Data Considerations: Coverage and quality assurance, maintenance and value added services, ISM requirements
  • ECDIS Management: Shore-based support for shipping companies, internal auditing, policy, procedures and training
  • Legal Requirements: Latest ECDIS regulations, Port State control and vetting inspections, responsibilities of the ship owner/manager

 
The seminars will be presented by Captain Paul Hailwood, a renowned expert on ECDIS and integrated bridge operations, and draw from the work the UKHO carries out as part of the International Hydrographic Organization’s ENC Working Group.
