Damen Shipyards Group said that it would lend its support to the Economic Development Board of the Drechtsteden.

The board is a strategic collaboration between business, education and government in the Dredchtsteden area of the Netherlands – an area which incorporates the locations of Damen Shipyards Hardinxveld and Damen Shipyards Gorinchem, said a press release.

It plays a pivotal role in strengthening the local economy, placing economic goals, opportunities and developments firmly on the agenda and stimulating the action required to ensure their achievement.

Two Damen employees are working with the board; Head of Communications Sylvia Boer as a Board Member and Project Planner Yachting Marco Diepeveen as a Young Professional member.

The Young Professionals have released a video to get attention for a regional funding bid.. This would provide an extra impulse for further regional development, making this an even more attractive place to live and work.

"With many of our employees residing in the Drechtsteden area, Damen is pleased to be able to assist in delivering the board’s goals," the release said.

As CEO René Berkvens recently stated: “Attracting and retaining young talent is essential for the future of our company. Making life in the area attractive plays an important role in this. The Dredchtsteden Economic Development Board can help ensure a good connection between the wishes of students and young professionals and the living environment in our wetland area. We support the board in its mission 200%."
