Jacksonville-based Crowley Maritime Corp. has been recognized as one of the top three 2013 Healthiest Employers by the Jacksonville Business Journal.

Crowley ranked third of all large northeast Florida companies (500+ employees), and was one of just 24 overall ranked businesses to receive this award.

Crowley’s Manager of Employee Programs Katy Keene accepted the award on behalf of the company during a special awards breakfast held at the University of North Florida’s University Center.

“It has become a priority at Crowley to help our employees accomplish their emotional and physical wellness goals, which is something that ties into Crowley’s 'Our People' core value,” said Keene. “We’re all in this together and want every single Crowley employee to be at their best at home and at work, and have a great quality of life.
The Jacksonville Business Journal determined Crowley’s rank after the company met the following six core areas of workplace wellness:
    •    Cultural and leadership commitment
    •    Foundational components
    •    Strategic planning
    •    Communication and marketing
    •    Programming and interventions
    •    Reporting and analysis

Wellness has long been part of the culture at Crowley, where employees are encouraged to participate in company-run fitness, nutritional and emotional well-being challenges; have access to an on-site company gym; and receive weekly and monthly newsletters with wellness tips and alerts of upcoming fitness events. Employees also have access to a Crowley wellness website, where they can log their progress and send motivational e-cards, among other features. Crowley offers employees wellness activities onsite, such as, health screenings, flu shots and health fairs and offers cost sharing for offsite gym memberships and fitness programs.

Prior to receiving this latest award, Crowley also received a Gold Status award from the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council (FCWWC) for its year-round commitment to employee health and wellness.
