Bibby Ship Management has successfully completed its second Global Management Programme which, it says, has helped to develop the management skills of all its management team across its global offices.
According to Nicola Quayle, Head of Group HR, at Bibby Ship Management, the Global Management Programme 2015 was designed to benefit all levels across management.
Training involved both classroom and work-based learning and involved the following:
- Two x two-day workshops to explore management principles, theories and models and establish how to apply these back into the workplace.
- Explored the strengths and challenges that colleagues face within the context of their locations and functional areas. Team work is vital so therefore the course allowed them to explore and establish ways to support them.
- Developing a culture of trust, belief, respect and empowerment within the management team and being prepared to embed this culture into a location or functional area.
- Establishing a continued effort towards personal development and to develop future capability in others.
- The programme also aimed to successfully harness the idea of team effort by supporting each team member moving forward this year and beyond.
Along with interactive workshops and self-directed learning, participants had the opportunity to be involved in business-related projects, giving them the opportunity to influence areas of Bibby Ship Management’s strategy. Each project team was be sponsored by a member of the Global Leadership Team, and participants presented their findings and recommendations from the project briefs to Chris Stone, Bibby Ship Management COO, at the end of the course.

Our second influx of managers onto the training course started earlier this year and we’ve been very pleased with the feedback.”
