National Tribute Set for Thursday, October 9, 2014

The Coast Guard Foundation, a nonprofit organization committed to the education and welfare of all Coast Guard members and their families, announced today that at its upcoming 34th Annual Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard in New York City on October 9th, it will honor a long-time supporter, James J. Coleman, Jr.

The former chairman of International Matex Tank Terminals, Coleman has served on the Coast Guard Foundation’s board of directors since 1997. During his time on the board, Coleman has been a pillar of the Coast Guard Foundation supporting efforts around New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region, as well as morale projects on Cape Cod and the upper Midwest. In addition to his long-time support of the Coast Guard Foundation, Coleman has been a champion of the National Coast Guard Museum, having served as the chairman of the Museum association’s board for more than 10 years. Coleman was awarded the Spirit of Hope Award in 2013 for his long-standing support of the United States Coast Guard.

“The Salute to the U.S. Coast Guard in New York City is one of the Coast Guard Foundation’s oldest traditions,” said Anne Brengle, president, Coast Guard Foundation. “We honor the exceptional heroism of Coast Guard members from around the country to shine a light on the vital role the men and women of the service play in our country’s safety and security. These efforts could not be possible without the incredible support of individuals like Mr. Coleman and their organizations.”
