The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) is set to facilitate a first-of-its-kind seminar dedicated to Middle East shipping and offshore activities. The event will be conducted by Clarksons Platou, a global leader in maritime brokerage and investment banking, as part of Dubai Maritime Week 2016 – the third edition of the region’s first comprehensive maritime event organized by the Authority, which will run from October 30 to November 3. The seminar is expected to attract several prominent regional and international industry figures and further reinforce Dubai’s growing popularity as a hub for major maritime events.

Clarksons Platou’s inaugural ‘Middle East Shipping & Offshore Seminar’ will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on Monday October 31, 2016. Leading analysts from across the company’s global network will share business intelligence on key developments in the Dry Bulk, Tankers, Specialised Projects, and Offshore sectors. Opening the event with his welcome address will be Essam Bella, Managing Director of Clarksons Platou Dubai.

Seminar presentations will include ‘A View from the Hold – Dry Bulk Shipping and Commodities,’ ‘Tanker Market Development,’ ‘Specialised Products Market Development,’ ‘Offshore Fundamentals,’ and ‘How the Suez Canal Has Succeeded in Attracting Business Despite Challenging Markets.’ The seminar will also host an interactive cargo panel discussion.

Amer Ali, Executive Director, Dubai Maritime City Authority, said: “Clarksons Platou’s seminar on regional shipping and offshore operations will serve as an excellent platform for sharing and discussing valuable market insights that will enable industry players to strategically position themselves in the coming years. We are confident that future editions of Dubai Maritime Week will continue to attract more major events such as these and contribute significantly to the consolidation and growth of the local and regional maritime sectors.”

Dubai Maritime Week showcases Dubai’s rapid growth into one of the world’s premier maritime centers. This year’s edition is being held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The biennial convention embodies the Dubai Maritime City Authority’s vision of establishing the emirate as a hub for maritime expertise and global events.
