SCA Circular on Requirements‏ of Ships' Documents, Drawings

Circular issued by Suez Canal Authority concerning ships' documents and drawings which are required to be ready onboard before transiting the canal for first transit or each transit to avoid any fine and/or delay. Those concerned are requested to take note and be guided by the instructions.

The Most Recent Required Drawings and Documents for the Suez Canal Officials

(CanaL Inspector)

For The First Transit:


- General Arrangement Plan (Original drawing all pcs/sheets).

- Capacity Plan (Original Drawing).

- Engine Room Arrangement Plan/Machinery Arrangement or/ Engine room layout (original drawing all pcs).

- Accommodation Plan (original drawing all pcs/sheets).

- Sounding book (W.B and F.O).

Suez Canal Special Tonnage Certificate attached with Calculation sheet, if any (all pages three copies) if not, kindly prepare an official letter declare and certify that there is no Suez Canal special tonnage certificate on board.

Certificate of Registry (three copies).

Certificate of classification (three copies).

International tonnage certificate (three copies).

Suez Canal Transit Forms.

The reset of documents according to the vessels passed before as mentioned below.

Passed before (every time of passinq the canal these documents should be prepared in a separated file for Mr. Canal Inspector):

Suez Canal Transit Forms (Full set as per attached).

Certificate of Registry (one copy).

Certificate of classification (one copy)

Suez Canal Special Tonnage Certificate attached with Calculation sheet, if any (all pages one copy).

Cargo Manifest (full set for different discharging ports one copy) if not, there are:-

     - Bill of Lading, or

     - Mate's receipt, or

     - Certificate of quantity.

Final Stowage (Cargo) Plan (one copy).

Out of Cauge (OOG) list / oversized container list, declaring:-

     - Position (stowage), Cont. NO., Type (20', 40' or 45'), Over-height (upper) of the extension.

Crew List (one copy).

Passenger List, if any (one copy).

A detailed list, declaring the full dimensions in meters (L X B X H) for the following:

    -All closed wooden Boxes/cases on deck,

    - Tanks on deck.

    - Fabricated houses on deck.

    Supported by, Packing list/Load list if any.

Floating units (yachts, tugs, .. etc) declaration.

Declares the full dimensions of Hull and Accommodations in meters (L X BX H) (attached by any drawings and Suez Canal special tonnage certificate for these floating units if any).

Heavy units declaration (declares the heaviest units on board, description of these units (ex. Turbine, generators....etc), stowed whether on deck or under deck and the quantity of each in m/t),

Military and Imo cargo declaration.

     Declares how many units and the quantity in metric tons for the military.

     And, for IMO Cargo I and 7 declares every item in those mentioned in metric tons (gross weight) ex.

     IMO 1.1E -25 MIT

     IMO 1.2F 120 M/T and so on.

If the vessel chartered/belong to any navy department, kindly prepare an official letter attached with charter party.

P.S: the above-mentioned documents & drawings are the most recent required documents by the Suez Canal inspector so, kindly be informed that in some special cases according to management instructions there are some different documents & drawings will be required.
