China Shipyard Starts on 10,000 TEU Container Ship

China Shipping Industry (Jiangsu) has begun construction of the largest container ship yet to be built in China.

The 10,000TEU container ship is being built for China Shipping Container Lines Co., Ltd. (CSCL) which the shipbuilders describe as the realiization of their dream by the construction of the centennial [sic] vessel for CSCL and of creating a world first-class enterprise.

The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Wang Yiling, the Executive Director of CICJS. General Manager of China Shipping Industry Co., Ltd. (CIC) Ye Xiaojian made an address of welcome. Chairman of the board of Hudong-Zhong Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd (HSG) Gu Tiquan, Deputy General Manager of CSCL Feng Xingguo,First Deputy Mayor of Yangzhou City Ding Chun, Vice President of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Nan Daqing, as well as Vice President of China Shipping Group (CSG) Ding Nong made speeches respectively.

General Manager of Scientific & Technological Information Department of CSG Li Yiwen, Deputy General Manager of CIC Li Zhengjian, Deputy General Manager of HSG Huang Yiping, as well as relevant leaders of GL, CCS, CSCL, CIC, China Shipping International Trading Co., Ltd., HSG attended the ceremony. Leaders of Jiangdu District Yangzhou City were also invited to attend the ceremony. There were 300 employees of CICJS attended the ceremony.

The vessel is planned to be delivered at the second half of 2014.
