China Shipyard Gets Two Hi-speed Ferry Orders

Afai Southern Shipyard (Panyu Guangzhou) Ltd. win contracts to construct two 40m high speed passenger catamarans.

The ferries have been ordered by Shenzhen Pengxing Shipping Co.,Ltd. in Shenzhen.

The basic design and detailed design of the vessels will be made by CoCo Yachts B.V. of The Netherlands, and  the supplementary approval design and production design will be done by Afai Southern.

This type of ferry has an overall length of 40.0m, an overall width of 9.3m, a design draft of 1.2m, and a passenger capacity for 199 persons.

The design speed is 31.5 knots, with CCS classification, and excellent sea keeping, features at high speed.

The two ferries are due to be delivered in the first quarter of 2014.
