GAC Shipping (India) Pvt Ltd has appointed Mukesh Chakraborty as the Branch Manager, Logistics Services for its Bangalore office. Mukesh brings 13 years of experience in freight forwarding, customs clearance, transportation and warehousing and distribution to his new role.

GAC is tapping into growing logistics business potential in Bangalore, India’s fastest growing major metropolis. The city is also a major hub for Business Process Outsourcing and specialised services like information technology and aeronautics.

Mark Delaney, GAC Shipping India’s Managing Director, says that with Mukesh at the helm, the company’s Bangalore office is ready to take on the opportunities. “Multinational companies riding the ‘Make in India’ wave are flocking to the city to set up research centres and export hubs. To cater to that influx, the government is investing in local infrastructure upgrading and development.

“GAC has what it takes to meet the increased demand for transport, warehousing, customs clearance and other EXIM-related services that comes on the back of the city’s development.”

Mukesh says that Bangalore has the potential to become a gateway for the entire region, as well as an international hub, strategically located to manage cargoes from Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

“Besides providing freight, project logistics and relocation services, GAC India seeks to carve a niche for ourselves in the pharmaceutical and wet chemicals, engineering and automotive sectors in and around Bangalore,” he adds. “I firmly believe that with the support of GAC Group’s global resources and the dedicated team at the Bangalore office, we can serve these sectors well.”
