Randall P. Bergeron, President, Tesla Offshore LLC has announced that Donizeti Carneiro has joined Tesla Offshore LLC as the company’s area manager for South America, with an office in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For the past 13 years Donizeti has been involved with the Brazilian offshore oil and gas industry, ten of those years managing C&C Technologies’ efforts in that area.

At the beginning of his professional career, Donizeti worked as a civil engineer and after five years he pursued a PhD degree in Geophysics and shifted his career to mining, oil and gas and applied Geophysics projects. On a five-year tenure in deep underground mines of South Africa, Donizeti lead a team in the world’s first application of the vertical seismic reflection method in hard-rock underground mines, to map weakness zones in the ceilings of tunnels and galleries and to advance the knowledge base on rock mechanics.

Before moving into the offshore oil and gas industry, Donizeti worked at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on a three-year U.S. DOE grant to investigate the use of Time Lapse Seismic Methods for monitoring hydrocarbon reservoir time variations.

Since his move to the oil and gas industry, Donizeti has helped to foster Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) utilization in offshore Brazil. In addition to the first use of AUVs in Brazilian waters, he also pioneered the application of Multibeam Echo-bathymetry on Petrobras’ seafloor characterization projects. Donizeti also extended the capabilities and technologies in use in Brazil to include physical oceanography and environmental sampling projects.
