In collaboration with Autodesk, SSI said its dealer in the Benelux, CADMatch, has organized CADMatch Maritime Day for Thursday April 3, 2014, in Oosterhout, NB. This event is a seminar on concurrent engineering. SSI CEO Darren Larkins will be a guest speaker at the conference and he will discuss best practices for implementing this engineering method using SSI's Autodesk based ShipConstructor solution.

The realities of engineering and designing marine projects today make the ability to perform concurrent engineering a competitive requirement. Due to economic pressures, multiple departments now need to collaborate to accomplish tasks simultaneously. This involves various engineering disciplines sharing accurate, associative, dynamic data in real time. Increasingly, accessing engineering expertise also involves working with different offices and companies, sometimes spread throughout the world. By working simultaneously, while utilizing best practices, not only will the development process be shortened, costs will also go down, errors will be reduced and quality will be increased.

The conference will show how multiple parties can work together with a common design specification and development model, demonstrated in the following disciplines: hull construction, piping, electrical, interior and ship engineering. In discussing this topic, attendees will also be shown the power of other Autodesk design tools which are relevant to the maritime industry.
