State of the Arctic Council to establish a new mechanism to strengthen operational cooperation and coordination of activities at sea. This is dictated by the need to provide security in the Arctic waters.
The eight countries of the Arctic Council (AC), form the Arctic Coast Guard Forum (AFBO), the chief of the press service of the US Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander (captain of the third rank), Dave French. It is a joint initiative of the countries have common interests in the Arctic. The structure will include AFBO Denmark, Iceland, Canada, Norway, Russia, Finland, Sweden and the United States.
"AFBO will be focused on the operational activities of the organization, to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the Arctic sea. The Forum will contribute to the implementation of the agreements of the Arctic Council. It is planned that the new organization will begin work this fall, during a meeting of heads of coast guards of all eight countries. Presumably, it will take place on 28-30 October in the US Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn.
According to the French's, the idea of creating AFBO dictated by the growing need to ensure security and responsible management of the Arctic waters.

He said that the chairmanship of the AFBO will coincide with the presidency of the AU and passed each other one by one every two years.
