2015 Newport Regatta in Narragansett Bay

The Newport Regatta is scheduled to take place in the East Passage Narragansett Bay vicinity between 10:00am to 5:00pm 10-12 July. 300 sailboats, from 8ft to 45ft in length, are expected.

Mariners are advised to proceed with caution when transiting the area. Interested mariners may contact the person in charge by phone at 401-429-8258.

Further, the Save the Bay’s Annual Swim is scheduled to be held in the East Passage of Narragansett Bay on Saturday (11 July) commencing at 7:00 a.m. and completing at approximately 11:00a.m.

During this time the East Passage will be CLOSED to all vessel traffic, both commercial and recreational.

Approximately 700 swimmers will be accompanied by kayaks and power vessels. Participants will swim from the Newport Naval Station, Newport, RI, across the channel north of and parallel to the Newport Pell Bridge and finish in Potters Cove, Jamestown RI. Interested mariners may contact the Coast Guard on-scene commander on VHF 16.

Finally, the Fort Rodman Pirate Invasion is scheduled to take place in the vicinity of Fort Taber Park, New Bedford Harbor between 9:00am and 5:00pm on 11-12 July. Mariners are advised to proceed with caution when transiting the area. Interested mariners may contact the person in charge by phone at 508-996-3850.
