Yanmar America Announces Organizational Changes

Effective April 1, 2017, Yanmar America has announced changes to its organizational structure that will strengthen its customer support functions in accordance with the company’s growth strategy through the integration of business functions and a department design that will accelerate results. Incat Crowther has delivered Wavelength 4, a 19m catamaran tour vessel claimed by its operator to be “the cleanest tour vessel on the Great Barrier Reef”. Built by Aluminium Marine in Queensland, Wavelength 4 features Incat Crowther’s efficient hull form and boasts numerous environmental features. The green approach was practical, focusing on a low environmental cost of producing and operating the vessel rather than emerging technologies. Yanmar Appoints Lettinga as Global Sales Manager

Yanmar Marine International has appointed Floris Lettinga as Global Sales Manager. His promotion from his previous role of Manager, Marine Sales Department for Europe, Russia and Africa, follows the diesel engine manufacturer's recent relocation of its global marine leisure and light-duty commercial engine business headquarters from Osaka, Japan, to Almere in the Netherlands. Yanmar Announces 2013 Results, 2014 Forecast

In fiscal 2013, economic growth in Asia was stilted by China’s worsening financial problems and political turmoil in Thailand. On the other hand, the United States’ recovery continued, and Europe’s economy experienced an upward swing, suggesting that developed nations are on the path to recovery. In Japan, the economy held strong due to a buying frenzy among consumers before the rise in consumption tax, and increases in European and American demand drove up exports. Devaluation of the yen and high stock prices also helped economic recovery.

Increased business complexity, combined with the need to increase support of globalization and expansion of Yanmar Holdings Ltd., has caused Yanmar America to evaluate and restructure some of its key leadership positions effective June 1, 2014. Yanmar America announced that Ted Bregar will relinquish his duties as President of Yanmar America and assume the responsibilities as Chairman & Senior Executive Advisor to Yanmar America. Having reached the age of retirement, Geert Jan Mantel will resign from his position as President of Yanmar Europe B.V. as per June 30, 2014, a position he has occupied since April 1, 2002. He will simultaneously step down as Managing Director of the Yanmar Co. LTD Board of Directors in Osaka, Japan. He has served as a member of the Board since June 2009. Mantel will take the position as Corporate Advisor for the three newest 100% Yanmar owned subsidiaries in Europe, namely Yanmar Construction Equipment Europe S.A.S. of Saint-Dizier in France, Vetus B.V.

New Air Regulator from TDI Improves Air Flow Consumption

Tech Development (TDI) introduces its new TurboFlow Air Regulator which the company says dramatically improves air delivery to the start system. The TurboFlow Regulator combined with other TDI start system components provides perfectly matched air-flow to the turbine starter for improved reliability and significant system savings. “One of our marine customers was looking to get more than the three starts they were receiving from their air reservoir using a competitive pre-engaged turbine starter,” states Dave Rawlins, Senior Product Manager at TDI.

Laborde Builds up Industrial Sales Team

Helping round out its industrial salesforce, Laborde Products welcomes two new salesmen. Cody Dean will handle industrial engine and equipment sales in southern Louisiana and southern Mississippi, while Chris Wright will respond to the needs of northern Louisiana and northern Mississippi. Dean previously served as territorial manager at Woolf-Harris. He will provide customers with the information needed to select the best diesel engine for on/offshore operations, standby and backup generators and all diesel industrial engines for land or permanent applications.

Norwegian shipbuilder Westplast AS chooses US-based NAMJet propulsion for its latest seismic survey vessel WP950. Designed as a global support platform for oil and gas industry seismographic research, the WP950 will also be used for streamer cable replacements. The boat is powered by twin 295-horsepower (hp) Yanmar diesels paired to twin TRAKTOR® Jet TJ 381 (15-inch) waterjets capable of propelling the 31-foot, 15,653-pound (7100 kg) craft to top speeds of 28 knots. The vessel's TRAKTOR Jet propulsion system also provides 6,393 pounds (2900 kg) of Bollard Pull.
